Firefly protection project -The water quality inspection-

On June 15th 2010, we conducted a water quality inspection of the brook on the west side of Osato laboratory Ltd..

Inspection items are BOD, COD, DO and pH.
When we took the samplings of the water, it was almost clear and odorless.The result of pH-test was 6-7, which means neutral.
According to the certificate of analysis of Gifu Research Center for Public Health, the water contains less than BOD0.5mg/L, COD1.7mg/L and DO9.5mg/L. It shows that the brook is conserved as AA level beautiful environment by the water quality standard of the Ministry of the Environment.
We could see a few fireflies flying around at night.

We took the samplings of the water,
hoping a good result.

The pH test shows the water is neutral.

Firefly protection project -Cleaning the brook-

All the employees of Osato laboratory Ltd. cleaned the brook on 26th May 2010.

We cleaned the brook which runs about 500 meters north and south on the west side of Osato laboratory Ltd..
Although this cleaning is done every month, a garbage bag becomes full every time.
We usually find a lot of cigarette butts, empty goody bags, caps of PET bottles and so on.
We found a discarded old umbrella during today's cleaning.We feel good about our accomplishment at the end of every cleaning, however, at the same time we feel pity because it is possible to keep the beautiful brook if nobody throws away their trash here.

It was the second cleaning for new employees who joined us this April.
One of them said with her smile, "It does not have a direct relation with my job to clean this brook. But I feel good about the fact we can keep our environment clean because we live here."

We pick up trash carefully from the bottom of the brook.	Let's cooperate and clear the mess!
This is still less than usual.	We sort out the trash for separate collection.

Osato laboratory Ltd. Social activity and approach of ISO14001 Firefly protection project

A small brook runs right by the west side of Osato laboratory Ltd..　We think it is our duty as one of local enterprises in this area not to pollute the nearby brook, and to conserve our natural environment for future.
Then, in 2009, we started the project to create environment where fireflies can live, that is an index of the water pollution level

Purpose of activity: Conservation of water quality environment and biodiversity by creating environment where fireflies can live
Details of activity: 　Cleaning of the brook once a month
Arranging stones to create harboring places for firefly's larvae
Conducting a water quality inspection once a year

Nurburgring 24Hours Racing 2010 Stunning Debut of Rapide

The race started at 15.00 CET on 15 May 2010, which was a brilliantly sunny day.

One of the Aston Martin's dual entries in SP8 Class was new four-door Rapide, which was released in May simultaneously all over the world. Aston Martin's CEO, Dr Ulrich Bez participated as one of the drivers. The other was V12 Vantage, the winner of last year.

Anyway, the silhouette of Rapide was so beautiful on the circuit.

Supporting a world-class promising young driver

Ms. Alice Powell, a racing driver, is a 16 year-old female high school student who receives world attention.
Alice's driving ambition is to become the first successful female in Formula 1.
Alice was introduced to motor sport by her granddad, learnt to drive a car at the age of six and started karting at eight.
In 2007/2008 she achieved eight podiums in the Ginetta and BRDC Stars of Tomorrow Championships.
We started supporting Alice with Immun'Age in 2010.
Her first race of the season was the Ginetta G50 Cup held in Hampshire on April 4, 2010. She qualified 9th, and in both races on the Sunday finished 13th. It was a tough race, but it must have been positive in the sense that she fought well against the drivers who have much more experience she does.

After the race, we had a comment from her about Immun'Age:
『I use the Immun'Age everyday and have given samples to friends and family. I feel that it does have a positive affect on stress levels, and I am very greatful to have the chance to use it.』

Immun'Age logo on Ferrari at Italian GT Championship

From 16th to 18th, 2009, the Italian GT Championship was held at the Monza Circuit and Ferrari F430 got the title of 2009 champion in GT3 class.
Immun'Age has been supporting the team Rosso Corsa and its driver Rorenzo Bontempelli, who is also a dentist, since 2002. In 2006 he became a world champion at the Ferrari World Final of the Ferrari 360 Challenge held at this Monza circuit, which is his home truck.

Penelope Exhibition 2009 was held at The National Museum of the Legion of Honour in Paris

During the world war second, "Penelope Association" was established in France as a voluntary organization to help financially-troubled women who lost their husbands. The association offers them jogs which they can do at home, such as embroidery. The management of ordering and inventory control is done by women of prestige or economically-advantaged women as volunteers and the sales profit is paid to the embroiderer.
The "Penelope Association" has more than 50-year history and started as handworks by women with no name, but now "Penelope" means "line of the highest quality" because of their delicate embroideries. In 1972, some interior designer provided their design and made a presentation of table coordinates focusing on linens with delicate embroideries. It was the first "Penelope Exhibition".
This exhibition is not known very well in Japan, yet it has been held annually somewhere in the world and the creative space designs made by leading French designers has been spotlighted.
We have been supporting the "Penelope Exhibition" since 1999. In 2009, the exhibition was held at The National Museum of the Legion of Honour in Paris from December 9 to 20. In the museum, decorators and designers presented their own table coordinates using Penelope linen with beautiful embroideries keeping to the feel of each room. Visitors should have been surprised by wonderful art of Penelope linen which has been well kept and traditionally developed and also inspired by pleasure of "dining" created by designers' artisan skills.

Manufacturing Gifu Techno Fair 2009

From 13th to 14th of November, 2009, we ran a booth at "Manufacturing Gifu Techno Fair 2009" held at the Ogaki City synthesis gym.
Although we were one of the few food companies which participated in this fair, we appreciated that fact that quite a few people visited our booth.
We would like to continue to participate in such events to have more chances to meet people locally.

Le Mans 24 Hours racing (2009）

Racing season for Le Mans 24 Hours has come this year again.
Immun' Âge has been loved by the drivers and pit crews of Aston Martin Racing since 2005. This year, Aston Martin entered its three cars numbered 007, 008 and 009 with V12 petrol engines in LMP1 class. "Immun' Âge" was on their rear bumpers.

Nürburgring 24 Hour Race

From 21st to 24th of May, 2009, the 37th "Nürburgring 24 Hour Race" was held at a driving track 25.378 km around, demanding corners and up-down.
Aston Martin entered two factory cars on the market. The team of Aston Martin using Immun'Age led the remarkable success of stunning victory in the SP8 class and second place in the SP10 class.

Immun'Age has been introduced in the company news letter for pilots and flight attendants of Air France, and it is getting popular among the pilots, flight attendants, and also many people who fly frequently for business.

The company news letter called "Sante Beaute Esthetique" contains a full page interview with Dr. Mantello, director of Osato Research Institute.

Passengers and crews of airplanes receive damage for their health when flying for a long time, because of drop in atmospheric pressure, increased ultraviolet rays (nuclear radiation ) and cosmic radiation, excessive active oxygen , discomfort from exhaust gas, fluttering, and noises, and stress being stuck in a small space, etc.

What kind of risk do we have for health when we fly for a long time?

Risk of reduced circulation of the blood which could cause swelling of leg and thrombosis of peripheral veins
Risks of inflammation (cold, sinusitis, bronchitis) and various infections (bacteria, virus, parasite) and pathogen (influenza, tuberculosis, malaria)

What kind of risk do we have for health when we fly for a long time?
The risk of ultraviolet rays remains to be explained scientifically. However, major countries including USA have been researching the possibility and carrying out some measurements. In Europe, since 13 May 2000, it has been obliged to measure ultraviolet rays which crews and pilots receive.

How can we reduce the risks?
Some experts recommend people who fly frequently, such as flight crews and frequent flyers, to take supplements to make up for the loss of nutrients in food to reduce the risk and prevent health damage.

Many air-lines show the exercise video to passengers to prevent poor blood circulation in a plane.

[Risks of inflammation and infections]
It is better to drink a lot of water to keep good immune system in gastric mucosa. Immun' Age (FPP) is a supplement to prevent those risk (according to the opinion based on researches of Osato Research Institute).

Aston MartinDBR9 009's second victory at Le Mans 2008

Le Mans 24 Hours race was held on 14th and 15th of June at the La Sarthe circuit.

Since the Aston Martin came back to Le Mans in 2005, the Osato Research Institute has been supporting drivers' health of Aston Martin Racing with Immun'Age (FPP - Fermented papaya preparation) as their technical partner. The purpose is to prevent drivers' oxidative stress during the race and decrease DNA damage. In order to prove it scientifically, analysis of blood samples of the drivers were necessary, though it is impossible to get them during the race. However, it has become possible through collaboration with the Grenoble University to obtain results from analysis of urine sample. In 2007, we conducted a research with 009 DBR9 drivers during Le Mans 24-hours race. The result was Aston Martin's first victory since they triumphed overall in 1959 and we gained a data to prove DNA damage decrease of two drivers - David Brabham and Darren Turner - who took FPP.

At Le Mans 2008, all the members of 009 DBR team including drivers and pit crews took FPP. And then, let me be allowed to say that the drivers, car, and all the team members not only formed a firm unity but also accomplished a great achievement of the two consecutive years wins.

Prof. Luc Montagnier was awarded the Nobel Prize

Prof. Luc Montagnier was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2008.
He has been involved with researches of Immun'Age (Fermented Papaya Preparation) from the beginning as a scientific advisor of the Osato Research Institute (O.R.I.), and even introduced how he met FPP in his book too. In Europe, Immun'Age has been sold as "Recommendation by Prof Luc Montagnier".
It was our great pleasure to receive this news and we hope that research of FPP would also be developed more from now on.
